Fundacion Bipolar Libre has as main objective to fight the consequences of stigma to Bipolar Disorder, for that means convenes to a common front in which main actors can collaborate in the different realities of Mental Health.
Such as legislators, Public and Private health institutions, educational institutions, citizen organizations, advocacy groups, pharmaceutical labs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Mass Media, families and people diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. The society altogether needs be aware.
How
With an articulated channel which pretends achieving synergy among the community with the purpose of:
o Inform society that Bipolar Disorder is a chronic illness like any other, which has a good forecast if it is properly treated by a Psychiatrist.
o Helping to refer people to institutions and Psychiatrists where they could get professional help.
o Spreading social importance of psychiatry, improve public perception of psychiatrists and recognition of the nobility of their professional practice.
o Become a channel for society to propose responsible mental health public policies according to the needs of actual times.
o Spread the benefits of medical treatment accompanied by medication.
Who we are
Fundacion Bipolar Libre is a citizen organization, plural, independent, without any political affiliation, conformed by a group of specialists in their area, committed to responsibly spreading knowledge of Bipolar Disorder and the consequences of not getting a timely diagnostic and a proper professional treatment, an informed decision is always a better one.
Bipolar Libre proposes research and investigation; to meditate on actual social cost of Bipolar Disorder, experimentation and collaboration of civil, social and government actors for benefit of families.
The Board of Directors is integrated mainly by non-ill people, some have suffered from Bipolar Disorder through loved ones, the board of directors will define the path and actions to take in order to defeat social stigma to Bipolar Disorder.
Goals
o Achieve recognition among society to treat adequately Bipolar Disorder
o Formulate with Mexican Congress a new law initiative and rights for the mentally ill.
